GREGG KANTOR

Gregg Kantor spent 20 years at NW Natural, serving as the Chief Executive Officer from 2009 until 2016, working his way to the top position after serving as President, Chief Operating Officer, Executive Vice President, Senior Vice President of Public and Regulatory Affairs, and Vice President of Public Affairs and Communications. Prior to joining NW Natural, Mr. Kantor ran his own Portland-based public affairs firm, Kantor & Associates, which provided community, government and media relations services to a broad range of public and private sector clients. From 1991 to 1993, he worked for Portland General Electric as Manager of Community Development, and from 1987 to 1991, served in the Oregon Governor’s Office, as Director of Communications.
During his career, Mr. Kantor participated in a broad range of civic activities. His work included serving as a board member of the Portland Schools Foundation, 1000 Friends of Oregon, the United Way of the Columbia Willamette Board and as Chair of its 2012 campaign, the Chinese Garden Trust, the Leaders Roundtable, Oregon Global Warming Commission, the Cradle to Career Council and the Oregon Business Council. He also chaired the Portland Business Alliance, the American Gas Association, and co-chaired the Governor’s Transportation Vision Panel.
Mr. Kantor is the author of a book on the history of central Oregon, The Deschutes River Country — A Guide to its Past and Present. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Geography and Environmental Studies from the University of California at Santa Barbara and a Masters of Urban Planning from the University of Oregon. He is married to Diane Kantor and has two daughters, Olivia and Sabrina.
